After the disappointment to Upper Hutt residents of the closing of their cinema in late 2013, a new experienced cinema operator will be re-opening the Ascot in Upper Hutt.
Monterey Cinemas will open on 17th December with a wide range of highly anticipated Hollywood blockbusters, along with many other mainstream and family films that will cater for the whole community from family and younger audiences, to the older audiences.
Monterey Cinemas is a fully digital mainstream cinema brand offering a wide range of movies, and great customer experience for the community of Upper Hutt and beyond.
The development of Monterey Cinemas is the brainchild of Kelly Rogers and David Ross, the co-founders of the highly successful Monterey Cinemas in Auckland, and both men have a successful track record with opening and running cinemas in New Zealand. They were the co-founders of the nationwide cinema chain, Rialto Cinemas, and currently they own and operate three separate cinema complexes; Monterey Cinemas Auckland, Bridgeway Cinemas Auckland and Rialto Cinemas Tauranga.
Kelly & David said that they are “delighted” to be involved in the re-opening of the cinema, and to be able to provide the wider community with a “superb movie-going experience with comfort and excitement”!
